Historical Information
A National (Church of England) School was established in Hambledon in the mid-nineteenth century, with the school building constructed in 1849 on land to the north of the churchyard in Church Lane. The school was subsequently administered as a Board School following the formation of the Hambledon School Board in 1872. The historic school buildings survive as part of the village school site today.
The school is an important part of the history of education in Hambledon, reflecting the development of organised village education before and after the Education Act of 1870.
