Historical Information

Hazeldene on East Street housed Beames Bakery from 1951 until the business closed in 1988. The bakery was run by Jean and Tom Beames and became a familiar village landmark, with its distinctive HOVIS sign. The photograph looks northwest along East Street towards the bakery, with Forge House visible to the left. The house and shop at Hazeldene date from the 18th century and were Grade II listed in 1967.
