Historical Information
Blenheim is a historic house on East Street, dating in origin from the 17th century. Historic Hambledon identifies this view as dating from around 1905 and notes that the photograph comes from one of Mrs H. Matthews’ postcards. The house may have served as a guest house during the Edwardian period and appears to have changed little in the intervening years. Historic England describes Blenheim as a 17th-century lobby-entry house with an early 19th-century exterior. The house has Flemish-bond brickwork with blue headers, brick dentil eaves, a slate roof and a symmetrical three-window front. A single-storey workshop, now a garage, is attached at the east end.
